Job Description

A Solar Energy Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, analyzing, and overseeing solar photovoltaic (PV) energy systems. The role involves evaluating site conditions, preparing system designs, selecting appropriate equipment, estimating energy production, and ensuring projects meet technical, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Strong knowledge of solar PV technology and electrical engineering principles.
Understanding of grid-connected, off-grid, and hybrid solar systems.
Proficiency with engineering/design software and technical drawing tools.
Ability to perform electrical calculations and system simulations.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project-coordination skills.
Knowledge of relevant solar, electrical, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop solar PV systems for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
Conduct site assessments, solar resource analysis, and feasibility studies.
Prepare electrical single-line diagrams, layouts, equipment specifications, and technical documentation.
Calculate system capacity, energy generation, cable sizing, voltage drop, and equipment requirements.
Select and evaluate solar panels, inverters, mounting structures, batteries, and other system components.
Coordinate with clients, contractors, suppliers, and project teams during project execution.
Monitor installation, commissioning, testing, and performance of solar energy systems.
Troubleshoot technical issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
Ensure compliance with applicable electrical standards, safety regulations, and grid-connection requirements.
Analyze system performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and energy yield.
Support project costing, technical proposals, tenders, and documentation.
Maintain project records, reports, drawings, and technical specifications.
